Advanced Product Quality Planning: APQP

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course covers the essentials of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) as prescribed by the AIAG Second Edition Reference Manual.
In this two-day training, participants will be introduced to set up a process to manage internal and supplier activities related to development of a new product or service. It is suitable for anyone involved who manages suppliers and activities related to sourcing, planning, or implementing new product designs and corresponding manufacturing processes. 
This training is also suitable for those who are responsible for or participate in product approval process.  This new, (2) two-day activity-based course will provide an understanding of how APQP can provide a successful product/model launch through effective management of the processes. 
The goal of this course is to show why APQP deliverables are important and how to manage internal and supplier activities to ensure a successful program launch that can support the customer’s product launch and ongoing production. The use of case studies review and report reinforce key learning points.

OBJECTIVES
Through group exercises and case studies, attendees learn how to:
  • Define the purpose of APQP.
  • Describe the relationship between key APQP deliverables.
  • Demonstrate why each of the key APQP deliverables is important.Identify APQP processes and phases        and the corresponding milestones.
  • Identify examples of required input for each phase and the corresponding outputs
  • The quality tools and techniques that make APQP work 
  • Identify appropriate activities for each phase of APQP- conducting effective design and process reviews
  • How control plans translate APQP into actions
  • Identify the PPAP five "Levels of Submission" and their applicability to different contracts 
    • Use PPAP as a reporting mechanism for both product and process development 
    • How to know when Production Part Approval Process submissions (for suppliers to OEMs) are                 required
    • How to complete PPAP formsReview of the AIAG "SPC" and "MSA" manuals, and links to PPAP 
  • Importance of the Part Submission Warrant (PSW) in controlling process
