Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) ligned to AS13003

A measurement system is by itself a process that is subject to variation. For any data or information obtained from a measured characteristic to be accurate, the measurement system itself must be accurate. AS13003 standard defines the minimum requirements for conducting Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) for variable and attribute assessment on characteristics as defined on the drawing or specification.

The purpose of this standard is to define the application of appropriate measurement system analysis tools and the acceptance criteria to be applied by the Aero Engine Manufacturers Supply Chain. However, there may be situations where alternative measurement systems analysis needs to be applied as part of a customer specific requirement, in which case these should be explicitly agreed upon between the supplier organization and its customer.

Through instructor-led presentation, group exercises and case studies, participants will learn how to:

  • Define the principle of MSA and its importance to the quality of measured data
  • Evaluate basic components of MSA comprising Accuracy and Precision
  • Plan, prepare and conduct variable and attribute MSA
  • Interpret MSA results/MSA health using graphical charts
  • Identify potential causes of unacceptable measurement system variations, interpret and analyze results of MSA studies to improve overall measurement control activities

This course is suitable for personnel responsible to plan, prepare and conduct MSA aligned to AS13003.
